What is spanner ?

The spanner is a tool used to tighten or loosen the things which are hold by the fasteners like nut and bolt. 

What are the types of spanners 

1.Open ended spanner 

2.Ring spanner 

3. Adjustable spanner 

4.Pipe wrench 

5.Tubular spanner 

6.Socket wrench 

1.Open end wrench :-

                      

                      In open end wrench the jaws are open and lean inward about 15°.and the jaws are unequal in size one of them is small and one is large the small jaw is known as locking jaw and it must be kept in the direction of application of force for better handling and grip.

2.Ring spanner:-

                               

     As name indicates this spanner has rings on both side of handling area and that rings has 8 to 12 internal notch and due to the notches the force applied on nut/bolt is evenly distributed over the nut/bolt head and it results in quicker work .

3.Adjustable spanner:-

       In adjustable spanner there are two jaws one is fixed and rest one is adjustable/movable. And to move it the adjustable screw is provided .this type of spanner is used when there is required size of spanner is not available. 

4.Pope wrench:-

                             The construction of pipe wrench is same as adjustable spanner the difference is the spring strip is provided to keep the movable jaw at 90°to the handle and the jaws are provided with the internal notches for grip while working on smooth pipe surface. 

5.Tubular spanner:-

                             The tubular spanner is made from medium carbon steel pipe which has hexagonal shape at both the end and below the hexagon the small hole is provided for the Tommy bar and these are used when the nut/bolt are below the surface and can't be handled by the other spanners. 

6.Socket wrench:-

                                These are available in the set the socket are looks like small tube with internal notch and on other side slot for the handle end provide spring ball mechanism. Various sizes of socket are available in set For the quick work sockets are used with ratchet handle.
